Q1. What is the difference between 2, 3 and 5 day programs?
At CECC, we follow the State of Connecticut Preschool Curriculum & Preschool Assessment Frameworks. The following is a grid of standard implementation and assessment based on program attended:

Q2. Does my child need to be “potty trained” prior to entering preschool?
At CECC we are aware that children are at different stages of toileting abilities, however, we recommend that children entering preschool be able to use the bathroom independently.
If children are in the process of toilet training at home, parent should notify staff and a program between home and school will be developed. More information can be found in the Family Handbook, pg 28.
Q3. Do I have to volunteer my time in the preschool program?
Along with supporting our fundraisers by purchasing and/or selling products (ex. Yankee Candle, Munsons Chocolates, etc.), families must volunteer a minimum of 2 hours of time in any one of our fundraisers or events. See FEC activities on website.
Q4. Is CECC accredited through NAEYC and what does accreditation mean for my child?
Yes, CECC is an accredited program through NAEYC. The National Association for the Education of Young Children is a professional organization which promotes excellence in early childhood education. The NAEYC torch is a sign that your child will be safe, healthy, and learning each day. NAEYC has developed 10 standards for high-quality early childhood education. Programs that meet these standards, such as CECC, provide a safe and healthy environment for children, have teachers who are well-trained, have access to excellent training materials, and work with curriculum that is appropriately challenging and developmentally sound.
Q5. Is CECC a “nut free” facility?
During the school hours, we request that snacks brought from home do not contain any nut products due to child allergies.
Q6. Does my child need a flu shot?
Per the State of Connecticut Department of Public Health, by January 1, 2011 and each January 1st thereafter, children age 6-59 months attending a preschool are required to receive at least one dose of influenza vaccine between September 1st and December 31st of the preceding year.
If children are vaccinated during August with the upcoming seasonal flu vaccine, these vaccinations will be accepted and counted toward the mandate requirement.
All children aged 6-59 months who have not received vaccination against influenza previously shall receive 2 doses of vaccine the first influenza season that they are vaccinated.
Children will not be able to attend school without documentation of this vaccine after January 1st.
Q7. At what age is my child eligible to enter preschool?
Children must be age 3 or 4 by December 31st of the current school year.
Q8. Is there financial assistance for tuition?
Yes, families may apply for School Readiness slots based on the School Readiness Income Guidelines. See more information on our website to determine eligibility.
Q9. Does CECC provide transportation for children?
No, CECC does not provide transportation.
